Garden Display Winners Announced for the 2026 Northwest Flower & Garden Festival

Creative use of natural materials, native/waterwise plants and floating garden paths were just some of the top features of the Garden Display Winners at this year’s Northwest Northwest Flower & Garden Festival.

Taking top honors with the Founder’s Cup Award for Best in Show (as well as for Garden Creator’s Award) was West Seattle Nursery for its display “Where Stories Take Root.”  Designed as a cozy reading retreat that blurred the lines between structure and landscape, this whimsical display featured a design of cozy garden rooms, liberal use of reclaimed natural materials such as logs and layered plants for immersive greenery.

Also taking double awards for “Best Use of Horticulture” and “GardenComm Outdoor Living” was Wittman Estes and its “Living Lightly” display garden.  This waterwise garden design embraced the outdoor beauty of the Pacific Northwest, making liberal use of native plants such as huckleberry and beach strawberry set in sloped, rocky dryscapes.  A floating grated walkway above the rocky landscape let visitors enjoy the landscape beneath their feet as they worked their way to a stone terrace and viewing platform.

Other winners include:

  • “People’s Choice”:  Hello Gardens for “The Gardenmaker’s Atelier," featuring a glass greenhouse/conservatory turned into a creative workspace for art, sewing and more, with soft, billowing flowers and cottage plants for inspiration.

  • “Best Use of Color”:  Lacewing Fine Gardening for “The Dye Garden,” featuring Pacific Northwest plants that can be used for natural dye

  • “Best Use of Natural Stone”: Elandan Garden for “Pathways and Portals Cast from Nature,” featuring bonsai plants, handcrafted sculptures and trained specimen trees

  • “Best Use of Hardscapes”: Fancy Plants and its “Choose Your Path,” featuring three distinct garden designs - Japanese, cottage and Northwest retreat - in one, complete with a steam filled dryscape pond.
