Bellingham Artist Larry Richmond Offers One of a Kind Pottery for the Northwest Home

Are you looking for ways to give your home or office a unique flair?  Bellingham artist Larry Richmond has an answer for you with his original hand thrown pottery that combines ceramics and weaving into these one of a kind creations.

Inspired by the Northern California indigenous people (where Richmond spent time working and teaching on the Hoopa Valley Reservation), Richmond’s current ceramics combine hand thrown pottery with weaving to create organic designs reflective of nature.  According to the artist, his designs explore the transition that cultures take when moving from weaving to pottery, using natural materials that reflect contemporary interpretations of traditional baskets and weaving.

His designs start with stoneware thrown on a pottery wheel.  From there, there is a whole process to reach his unique creations, from oxide stains and designs, to two kiln firings, addition of wood handles and finally hand woven medallions added to the top.

You can find Larry Richmond’s work at local craft and garden fairs, or by visiting his website at https://www.larryrichmondpottery.com.
