Whether you are an apartment dweller or have a home with acreage, there was something for everyone at the 2024 Northwest Flower & Garden Festival.
Stunning display gardens included “Game Night,” which featured a series of outdoor game rooms nestled in a captivating garden complete with cascading water features throughout (Washington Association of Landscape Professionals), “The Awakening Dragon,” a showcase of orchids and other tropical flora growing in what looks like a massive rock formation at first glance, but turns out to be a dragon, complete with smoke coming from its nostrils (Northwest Orchid Society & Emerald City Orchids) and “The Secret Garden,” an enchanting fairy garden featuring waterfalls in a whimsical setting by Nature Perfect Landscape & Design, and winner of the Founder’s Cup for Best in Show.
For apartment and townhome dwellers, the festival featured a special section called “City Living,” a series of garden vignettes highlighting small space garden and balcony design. Set on the skybridge of the Seattle Convention Center, the displays each had their own “live” city backdrop through the glass walls, giving a unique Seattle feel to the displays.
Festival visitors had a wide array of plants, supplies and even art that they could purchase too. Seeds and bulbs for sale abounded, as well as a stunning houseplant display by Ravenna Gardens. For small spaces indoors, there were air plants and mini terrariums, including unique mini terrariums in chemistry bottles.
